Google's Forecast For A Speedier Internet
Friday, December 15, 2006
Google is currently the top search engine company in the
industry, both in terms of market share and technology. To
reach the top spot in an Industry which analysts predict could
balloon in to a multi-billion dollar one, it took a Google that
has an abundant supply of innovation, great foresight and to a
big extent, a stealthily-developed arsenal of one the best and
most advanced Search Engine Technology the whole Industry has
ever seen (or not seen, since Google is trying its best to keep
competitors in the dark about the true extent and power of their
biggest weapon - their clusters of datacenters). Although
they're at the front of the pack right now, Google and its army
of engineers are in no way sitting on their laurels. Innovation
is what brought them where they are now, and innovation is
definitely what they're continually using to bring the company
forward. Google's engineers are continually working on ways to
improve their search engine's performance and to give
additional features that will enhance user experience.
Although it could be very easy to miss because of its sheer
simplicity, speed is one of the key reasons why Google is
number one. They understood early on that in order to provide a
top-notch user experience, search results must be delivered to
the user in the shortest time possible. Even when on a dial up
connection, Google has designed its search engine in such a way
that the web search results appear in a snap. One might say that
Google has perfected the speed aspect of search engine results
delivery, but displaying the list of results is just half of
the story. What happens when a user clicks on the result is
also an important component in the overall experience of the
search engine user. Google therefore wants to improve on the
Internet for the user searching for information. Improving the
speed of the Internet for the users is also important to
Google's other mission: to bring software applications that a
user uses from the desktop to the web. The idea of network
computing is something that is not entirely new, but it is only
lately that we are seeing a start (albeit still slow and not
without its own share of challenges) towards the right
direction. Products like Gmail, Google spreadsheets, Google
Calendar and Writely are testament to this Company mission.
So now we know that Google wants to deliver a user experience
in a much faster way than what the current Internet technology
has to offer. Now we move on to the how question. Or, how
Google intends to improve the speed at which information is
retrieved and delivered to the user.
We'll start with what Google is doing now to address the
problem of speed, moving on later on the company's future
plans, clues of which can be found in the company's patent
applications.
Web page pre-fetching is one method that is generally used in
increasing the speed at which a web page is accessed and Google
is using it in now in its search engine. Users using Firefox
browser to search Google may have already felt the effect of
pre-fetching without them knowing it. Google currently
pre-fetches the top items in the list of search results
especially if the algorithm has determined that it is most
likely to be clicked by the user. Pre-fetching a web page means
that the browser will download a web page to the user's computer
even before the user has clicked on the link to it such that
when the user actually clicks the link, the page is loaded
quickly from user's computer memory.
The Google web accelerator is another Google product that aims
to speed up the Internet experience for the users. It speeds up
the speed of Internet users on broadband using a desktop
component and dedicated Google servers to cache content and
compress certain data before it is sent to the user GWA also
uses a more aggressive pre-fetching feature that works not only
on Google search result pages but also on other pages that the
user is using.
The Google web accelerator and the page pre-fetching feature of
the Google search engine are two methods currently being used by
Google in bringing a speedier Internet experience to the user,
but there are a lot more that Google is doing in its labs to
make the Internet even faster, or more specifically in some
cases, the speed at which information is delivered to the user.
Search being the second most popular activity done by users on
the Internet, speed improvements on information retrieval and
delivery is an important improvement on the user experience of
many Internet users.
"Predictive information retrieval" and "anticipated query
generation and processing in a search engine" -two patent
applications by the search company, says a lot about how Google
aims to improve the search experience by hinging on one thing:
anticipating and predicting what the user is looking for. The
focus of the patent application mentioned is returning search
results faster and more personalized for the user.
The search engine that Google wants to develop will capture the
keyboard characters as they are entered by the user, then sends
partial queries to the Google servers that are actually
predicted by an algorithm based on what it thinks that the user
is actually looking for. This prediction is based on a list of
words found on one or more dictionaries which can differ from
one user to user. The search engine can therefore predict what
you are looking for based both on what other people are looking
for and a personalized profile that Google can make out of what
it knows about the user. This can include the user's search
history or other factors. Google can then display the list of
suggested keywords to the user and in some cases, actual search
results. Predictive information retrieval when perfected will
make searching experience speedier for the user, and will
smartly optimized the work being done by the search engine.
Google has a lot to gain in a speedy Internet, that's why it's
also investing a lot of money and engineer time towards this
goal. Whatever Google delivers to the table to improve the way
users use the Internet, it is a sure win for its users and
customers. In the same way that we don't know how we managed to
live in a world of dial up connection now that we're on
broadband, we might be surprised in what the future will be
offering in harnessing more the speed potential of the
Internet.

Why You Should Be Using A Phoenix Online Marketing Service
The Internet isn't a level playing ground for local businesses.
Only those with the right knowledge and the right tools are able
to succeed. But many don't know where to find those tools. Many
want the recognition that they feel they deserve for their
particular business. The help comes from local services like
the ones that a Phoenix online marketing service can offer you.
These services aren't just helpful; they're crucial to your
long-term success.
Any business can be successful for a short time. Given enough
start up funds and a good idea, you too can create a successful
business venture. But it can't stop there. New ideas are only
new for so long, so you need to make sure that you're laying
the proper groundwork for future business and the years to
come, not just the next paycheck. Online marketing services
understand that you aren't just looking to make money; you're
looking to create success in your business and in your dream. A
local marketing service will know your business and the general
area even better.
To help you achieve success, online marketing services work by
looking at what you want to do with your business. Are you
selling a product or are you selling an image? Are you trying
to help people in a service-oriented manner or are you trying
to make a difference in another way? At an initial
consultation, they will work with you to determine what your
goals are, and will begin to figure out just how they can help.
By hiring a local service, these professionals will help you
with specific needs relative to your area.
Online marketing services allow your business to remain in your
control, but at a higher level. Instead of changing what you do,
they will change how you do it. Your website will be
reconstructed in order to work with search engines so that you
get more traffic to your website, and the right traffic. By
utilizing things like SEO, keyword density, relevant content
and interesting information, they can help you transform your
website into the best first impression that you can get with a
customer.
Other services can and will tell you to increase the keywords
on your website, but this is only a part of the solution. With
the professional services of a local Phoenix online marketing
service, you can create interesting and informative website
content that creates traffic of customers that aren't just
directed to your website by keyword, but by their specific
local searches. This means that customers who are genuinely
interested in what you have to sell will come to your site.
This creates a steady stream of customers who are ready to make
their purchase with you because they found exactly what they
were looking for.
These services will also work with your website to change and
adjust to market trends as well as for other changes in the
market's culture. You need to change and innovate your website
so that it's always fresh and exciting. Customers want to feel
like you are growing and creating new ideas for their needs.
Some website marketing services will just set your website up
and then let you deal with the future. That's not a long-term
plan. A local SEO marketing service may be a better fit for
your business. They know the area and can work in creating a
marketing campaign that is unique for your geographical
location.
Using a local Phoenix online marketing service isn't just for
the momentary increase in traffic count; these services are
designed to help you grow a business as well as your bottom
line. By using time-tested tools to create a website that
really serves the neighbors you want to reach, you can make
sure that you're not only planning for the future, but you're
also ready for it.

Protecting Your Small Business Opportunities
There are many small business opportunities out there that can
bring business oriented individuals a lot of pride as well as a
lot of money and success. Unfortunately, running a company is
not as easy as simply swinging the doors open and letting the
customers come in. Even if one has a very strong client or
consumer base, they may find that it is difficult to keep the
business open. The fact is that more companies fail than
succeed, but why is this? The answer is simple -- some
businesses are set up to fail from the day that they open. Of
course, the owners don't know that their enterprise is destined
to fail, but that is because they did not have the right
information, research, or support they needed when starting up
their business.
If you are interested in small business opportunities, you may
want to learn how to better protect your businesses from
failing. To do this you have to look beyond what you are
earning every day and look at what may be putting the
enterprise at risk for failing. These risks often seem very
small in comparison to the business successes, but over time
they can lead to profit erosion, and eventually to the failure
of the business. Some of the risks that any company may
experience are the lack of a business plan, ineffective
business processes, and a lack of proper business policies,
theft, problem employees, and more. As you can see, each of
these issues seems small when you look at it by itself, but
over time the problem can magnify and cost the business more
than it is able to make.
Entrepreneurs can protect their small business opportunities by
learning how to recognize their market risks and doing something
about them. Often the solution is very simple and will involve
changes in the way owners deal with their business, employees,
and even customers. The cost of fixing the problem may not be
something owners want to deal with, but in the end it will be
less costly than watching the business fail. Managers might
need some help to realize what their business risks are, and
this help can be found through books, kits, and even consulting
services. Owners can try to fix things on their own first,
because this will be the most economical way to deal with the
problems.

opportunities, you may want to check out the

Learn To Do Effective Seo In Less Than 350 Words
Friday, December 01, 2006
Learning to do Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is one of the
easiest skills to learn when it comes to web marketing.
Virtually anyone who can do a bit of HTML programming can learn
to do SEO.
SEO is split into two separate categories: The first is on-page
optimisation; the second is off-page optimisation.
On-page optimisation is what you do to your site to make it
rank better and off-page optimisation is link building.
We'll start with on-page optimisation:
The first step is to find relevant keywords for your website;
these keywords are relevant to your business. For example: If
you had a printing business you would select keywords like:
Colour Printing, Book Printing, Printing Books in the USA etc.
The next step is to integrate these keywords into your website
copy; I would suggest choosing 2 - 3 keywords and repeating
them 4 or 5 times each throughout your home page copy. Try and
have the rest of your keywords repeated in your copy at least
once.
Also, have your keywords in the title tag, Meta Tags, H1, H2,
H3 tags and the ALT tags.
Try and have a good number of content rich pages, I would
suggest at least 10. These pages must have the keywords
scattered though-out the copy.
The second part is off-page optimisation. This is by far the
most important part of getting your website to the top of the
Search Engines.
Off page optimisation involves link building, this is the hard
part.
You can get links in a number of ways, I will put a * next to
the ones that I think are most important.
- Buy Links
- Ask people for links, either by phone or email
- Write Articles
- Write Press Releases
- Register with Powerful Internet Directories *
- Get people to Blog about your Site (Link Baiting / Viral
Marketing) *
I will cover the basics of link building.
Firstly, register with a number of internet directories, EG:
Yahoo and business(dot)com.
Write a few articles and distribute them around the powerful
article directories.
There are a number of places where you can pay people to blog
about your site, use them to start a viral marketing campaign.
Do get them to include a link back to your site!
Following this advice will give you a massive SEO boost and you
should see good gains within a number of months.

Joel Comm Is Dr. Adsense
What is Adsense?
If you are new to making money online and net marketing, you
may not know what Adsense is, much less have heard of Joel
Comm. Adsense is the "Ads by Google" that appear all over
millions of webpages around the net. In the past, Adsense has
proved itself to be very profitable, so much so that thousands
of people set up websites purely in order to have Adsense on
them. In turn, these "spam" sites created a big mess for the
search engines and were "slapped" down by changes in the
search-engine algorithms. Many of these "black hat" sites
ceased to be profitable, while the "white hat" sites have
largely endured, albeit many of them experiencing a decrease in
income.
The individuals who put Adsense on their websites are called
"publishers," one of the more successful of whom is Joel Comm.
Comm has not only made a fortune publishing Adsense, but he has
also written books on the subject that have become bestsellers
online and off. Comm has also created a series of Adsense
template websites for others to make money off Adsense. Because
of these facts, Joel Comm is nicknamed "Dr. Adsense." One of
Joel's books is called "What Google Never Told You About Making
Money with Adsense," 199-page behemoth chockfull of techniques
and tips. Comm leaves almost no stone unturned in this book,
which was updated in 2006. In fact, this "Adsense Secrets" book
is so thorough as to be a bit plodding, but there's no question
Joel lays down a solid blueprint as to how you can create or
increase your Adsense income.
Even with all the material laying the foundation for a shot at
a solid Adsense income - or, possibly, much more than that -
one gets the feeling that Comm is slyly holding back some
secrets. One of the major things that Comm is good at is
creating popular sites, and, as is the case with all business,
the more customers or "traffic" you have, the more you will
make. One thing is clear: You can no longer create a bunch of
low quality sites purely for the purpose of sticking up some
ads to make money. With the "Google Slap" directed specifically
at that type of site, you will have difficulty getting enough
traffic - and the advertisers are generally paying less for
"content" sites in any case. Content sites are those published
by people and companies other than search engines, as opposed
to search-network sites such as Google and AOL, among others.
What Joel Comm outlines in "Making Money with Adsense" will
take a while to implement, but it is not impossible to make
money with Adsense, even with the developments and shakeups of
2006. If you want to just cut to the chase in making money with
Adsense and learning it from one competent source, Joel Comm's
book revealing Adsense secrets is one of the best places to
start.

Article Marketing Does Not Work
Article marketing is the lowest form of SEO for a number of
reasons, while many people will disagree with what I'm writing,
the fact of the matter is that there are much better ways to
obtain backlinks and the backlinks obtained will deliver much
better results.
The primary reason so many people write articles today is to
create backlinks to their websites or the websites they are
optimising for clients.
This does work to a degree; however, it is really the lowest
form of backlink you can obtain.
Search Engines base the way they rank a website on a number of
factors, the first on the content the site has available and
the second on how relevant the site may be.
If a site has many backlinks, search engines "Think" the site
has a high relevancy and will rank it highly.
Unfortunately, many people doing SEO think that this all they
have to do get their website to the top of the search engines
is to obain as many backlinks as possible.
When they don't see the results they expected they are
flummoxed and can't understand why their SEO efforts are not
working.
The reason why this does not work is because search engines
know that the backlinks are not of any quality and will not put
any value on them when ranking a website.
Thus, the site will not rank highly.
To put it bluntly, article backlinks are in the most part
rubbish, and hardly count for anything. Period.
To achieve a good raking in the Search Engine results you would
need to write thousands and thousands of articles, if this was
your main way of gaining backlinks.
There are much better ways of obtaining backlinks while trying
to do SEO.
The most effective form of SEO is Viral Marketing also know as
link baiting, this involves people linking to your website
usually through their blogs.
The benefit of link baiting is that once it gets some momentum
it will grow itself as opposed to writing articles and
submitting them to say ten article directories.
While your article directories will only give you ten
backlinks, people blogging about your site and the word
spreading may give you over a hundred. The benefit is the
backlinks also come from a variety servers as opposed to the
same old ten article directory servers.
The search engines will rank your site much higher if your
backlinks come from many places.
You can create a viral marketing campaign by getting in contact
with individual bloggers and offering them your product for
review. Once you get a number of positive reviews, word will
spread and you will have a successful SEO backlink campaign. If
you are too lazy to contact individual bloggers there are a
number of sites out there where you can pay bloggers to blog
about your site.
Always get them to include a backline back to your site though.
